Why are clean teeth important?
Dirty teeth are not just about a foul smelling mouth. From under the dark yellow tartar, bacteria can invade the blood rich gums. The body responds by sending immune cells to the area, visible as a swollen red line above sore teeth.
This ongoing infection and immune activity creates significant inflammation throughout the body, affecting many organs, particularly the kidneys that must clear the resulting waste. This is why in older animals it is especially important to keep teeth free of tartar.

Under 10 kg: ½ to 1 scoop
10 to 20 kg: 1 to 2 scoops
Over 20 kg: 2 to 3 scoops
When you should use Canident
Any dog or cat with tartar can benefit from Canident until at least the tartar is gone. After that, regular oral maintenance and a good raw meaty bone once a week will keep most issues at bay. A half dose of Canident can be used as a maintenance dose.
As long as the dog is not visibly suffering, it is worth using raw meaty bones along with Canident to try to resolve tartar without needing a general anaesthetic, particularly in toy breeds and older pets.
When you should not use Canident
Canident should not be fed to dogs with hyperthyroid issues.
Note: If using any other seaweed products in your pet’s diet, do not exceed a 5% inclusion ratio of all seaweed products to total feed.
